The Great Mural Project
We are thinking of painting a mural on the 6th Street side of our building and would like to have your input on the idea. We have spoken to a number of artists about the project and are excited to work with one artist, Edward Williams who has executed a number of different murals in the Washington DC area. We have also spoken to Lisa Ochieng, who is the art teacher at JO Wilson Elementary about getting some of the students involved in the painting of the mural. Everyone so far is very excited about the project. But we want more community input into the project.
Because the 6th Street side of our building faces JO Wilson Elementary, we want a mural that can intrigue and inspire the kids as well as adults. One central theme we have come up with is "Are You Curious?" And we have produced a couple of rough outlines or suggestions for a mural based on that central theme.
Please let us know what you think. Do you like the idea? Or would you prefer not to se e any mural on our wall? You can email us with your thoughts and opinions at firstname.lastname@example.org (caption the email "Mural") or you can simply stop by and let us know what you think. If you are interested, we can share with you some of our rough drafts for a mural. If you want to recommend other artists who may be interested in the project let us know about them too.
If we do move forward on the mural project, we will want to do that sooner rather than later, while the weather will permit. But of course any project like this can and will cost money, which is not in abundance here at the market, so we are also thinking of doing a gofundme campaign to help raise some funds for the mural. Again your thoughts and opinions on that topic are most welcome.
So please express yourselves and let us know what you think. Good idea? or Bad Idea?
